There has been so much talk about the destruction of cultural heritage in Afghanistan by the Taliban regime. And rightfully there has been so. The plunder of the pre-Islamic cultural heritage by Taliban is a crime against humanity. This site is about the plunder of the Cypriot cultural heritage in the northern part of Cyprus. It is about a crime against humanity which has been committed since the invasion and military occupation of martyred Cyprus in 1974. While the contents of this site come mainly from Hellenic and Cypriot governmental and lobbying sources, Turkish voices primarily speak in it about the destruction and annihilation of the cultural heritage of the occupied Cyprus. Greeks, Turks, and Cypriots can -- and should -- live peacefully. The prosperous future of these people depends on the cultivation of positive relationships among them. The foreign policy which aims at building bridges instead of at widening gaps can -- and should -- be encouraged. We are determined to give peace a chance. We are determined to give criminals and ethnic cleansing no chance at all. |
